This
webpage collects from the internet all the publications by Gfitter
authors which are based on ZFITTER software "integrations"
or which contain ZFITTER text "integrations".
There are
a lot of them.
Unfortunately, these "integrations" of
software and/or texts are not acknowledged appropriately by Gfitter.
Please, take notice:
Questions of
intellectual property, copyright and licences etc. are related, but
not identical to those around scientific honesty and plagiarism.
According
to the statements of Gfitter, ZFITTER is always properly cited.
And
if not, then this was occasional.
The comment by a
German professor of physics is the following:
There are about 37
publications from 2007 to March 2011, where ZFITTER software or
ZFITTER text is not quoted as expected by ZFITTER.
If some
non-citations happened occasionally, then the probability for
this is, with n publications, equal to p[n,x] =
x^n. Here, the x is the probability that in a single
publication a crucial reference has been forgotten.
The value of
x should fulfil e.g. x<1%.
The combined probability of
occasional non-quotations becomes for x=1%
p
< p[37,1%] = 10^(-74) = 0
For a single case probability
of x=10% to forget a crucial reference occasionally, the combined
probability would be
p[37,10%] = 10^(-37) =
0
and for x=50%, a huge value:
p[37,50%]
= 10^(-11).
A conclusion might be that the omissions
of quotations happened not occasionally, but due to habitual
behavior.
Certainly, misunderstandings happen.

"An initial

package. All results presented in this report are preliminary and
were generated using FeynHiggs version 2.6.2."
Contrary

that the Gfitter authors know how to do.

				The statement of
the author on "The ZFITTER project" on slide 5 that "..
Applications labelled 'ZFITTER' are usually programs written by
experimentalists taking the theory calculations from ZFITTER"
				is wrong.
Correct is that the "programs written by
experimentalists taking the theory calculations from ZFITTER"
are usually called "interfaces", and the authors of the
"interfaces" usually quote ZFITTER articles for the use

It
is not understandable from the transparencies whether Gfitter/gsm
is used for the susy analyses or not. Either the known Standard
Model input comes from an external analysis - then this should be
quoted correctly - or it is determined with Gfitter/gsm.
The
				latter has to be assumed.
- No
mentioning that ZFITTER software is "integrated" into
				Gfitter/gsm

1 March
				2011
ZFITTER authors discover, by a google search, that
Gfitter contains code "integrated" from ZFITTER
				software
8 March 2011
ZFITTER authors hint to potential
copyright/licence problems of Gfitter and suggest not to use or
present Gfitter and its results until the potential
				copyright/licence problems are solved.
9 March 2011
ZFITTER
authors present undoubtful proof to Gfitter supporters that
crucial parts of Gfitter/gsm have been "integrated"
				from ZFITTER software.
The Gfitter publications are
collected here; in the Gfitter software, the "integrations"
are not made explicit. This is exemplified in another webpage.

				The expectation
by ZFITTER is not to present talks or publish articles until the
				Gfitter problems are solved.
This talk is the first one held
				nevertheless.

"2-loop EW form-factors: taken and adapted from ZFITTER
[A.B. Abruzov et al., Comput. Phys. Commun. 174 (2006) 728-758]

- For the first time there is a quotation of ZFITTER which is
ment for using the code; it is not
very explicit and not correct [Abruzov means Arbuzov, and the
basic CPC article is not mentioned]. It is not clear what means:
"... taken and adapted from ZFITTER ...", and the
excellent numerical agreement mentioned suggests independence of
				the two codes.

second one ignoring the expectation of ZFITTER not to present

Model Tests: the Quest for Precision" pp.
				47-72
The contribution was available free of charge online by
Amazon for few weeks before final release.
- No
mentioning of ZFITTER, although a main part of the
text is on precision measurements at LEP.
The explanation by
Dr. Mönig: "... Just forgotten to quote."
The
article contains 15 figures, 13 of them are "adapted"
				from other publications.
The authors write:
"The
corrections to the W propagator violate the weak isospin due to
the different mass of the up-type and the down-type fermions.
They are of particular importance, because they are proportional
to the squared mass difference of the involved particles."
They
quote a honorable theorist (1990) for that, but everybody knows
that the famous observation is due to Nobel Laureate Tiny
				Veltman, published much earlier (1977).

				5 July 2011
The
following Gfitter article was submitted by Gfitter with a
				single-case agreement by ZFITTER.
The
copyright/licence/intellectual property problems are not settled
at the time; although, there was some pressure by Gfitter
supporters on ZFITTER [not to hinder the scientific progress
and/or the scientific cooperation of DESY and CERN and/or not to
defend the peace all over the world], so ZFITTER finally agreed.

But the agreement was not unconditional. It was expected by
ZFITTER that Gfitter explains the situation [in one way or the
other, but in clear terms], and that the software Gfitter/gsm
will be declared as a common product of members from both groups.

As a result, the article contains the first public
announcement by Gfitter that software from ZFITTER has been
				"integrated" into Gfitter.
- Unfortunately,
this common software Gfitter/gsm was never created and does not
				exist.
- Further,
Gfitter did not explain the situation in clear terms [in one way
				or the other].
So it took 138
				days, but the copyright/licence/intellectual
				property questions are not settled.

- The Erratum does not solve the

- The anticipated software

On
page 2, M. Schott says after some time the following [status of
				24 Nov. 2011]:
"Partial and total widths
of Z and W: based on parameterized formulae
- [Hagiwara et al.
- Small
additional correction factors, determined from a comparison with
the Fortran ZFITTER package [Arbuzov:2005ma,Bardin:1999yd], are

- Radiator Functions
using 3NLO calc. of massless QCD Adler function
[P.A. Baikov
et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 101 (2008) 012022]"
The
				archived slide is not identical with the original one;
unfortunately, this is not expressed in the slides.
The reason
for the hidden "improvement" is a criticism by
collegues from DESY, Zeuthen, that the Hagiwara et al.
parameterization can not deliver the anticipated accuracy. There
was just doubt expressed that a grid solution has really been
applied. This doubt exists. But from the next item, the PhD
thesis of M. Goebel at Hamburg University, one may learn that a
grid solution exists in the Gfitter project.
It is also
explained in the thesis that the grid of Gfitter has been made
USING the ZFITTER software. And this means that the two ZFITTER
articles CPC133 and CPC174 have to be quoted, as it is correctly
				done in the thesis.
Finally, M. Schott gave up and
decided to quote ZFITTER as reproduced here.
Although,
				M. Goebel writes explicitely that the Hagiwara et al. grid has
been combined, for improvement, by using ZFITTER 6.42; he quotes
ZFITTER correctly. See page 15 of fromGoebelsThesisSep2011.

				inform
M. Goebel uses in the PhD thesis a grid approach a
la Hagiwara et al. to the Standard Model fit, in order to
eliminate the dependence of the Gfitter package from Gfitter/gsm.
The creation of the latter was an important part of his diploma
thesis, see Item 2 in this list. In order to reach a sufficient
accuracy, he improves the Japanese grid by using the ZFITTER
package, and quotes correctly the two CPC articles on ZFITTER.
